This card features a watergram that was created in the River Allen Chalk Stream near Wimborne St Giles, with stream water-crowfoot captured swaying in the current. Stream water-crowfoot is a keystone species of the chalk stream environment, as the aquatic plant provides vital habitat and shelter for fish and invertebrates, regulates water flow, maintains oxygen levels and stabilises the river bed. The presence of stream water-crowfoot is an indicator of a clean, healthy river ecosystem.
The camealess photograph was created for the Landscape and Arts project which focused on the Crannborne Chase Protected Landscape, made possible through a bursary from Dorset Visual Arts and finding from Dorset Council.
