Snake's Head Fritillaries Art Card

Sale Price:£2.00 Original Price:£2.80
sale

Part of the Efflorescence Spring Collection

Limited edition of 10 cards.

Card dimensions: 5’x5’

There are around 140 species of fritillaries growing all around the northern hemisphere, but only one - the Snake’s Head Fritillary (fritillaria meleagris) - is found in the UK. It is an exquisite and ethereal beauty, getting its name from the elegant droop of its bobbing head and the iconic chequerboard pattern of its petals. In the wild they are extremely rare: ploughing just once on a site where they may have been for centuries will destroy their bulbs, and so farming practices have led to their demise. To find them is a great joy; to capture them on Polaroid, a privilege.

Details:

From my original artwork: Colour i-type film, Polaroid emulsion lift on St Cuthbert’s Mill ‘Millford’ 300g/m2 paper.

Printed on textured matt paper and left blank inside for your own message. Comes with Eco Kraft Brown 100% recycled envelope.

Proud to be FSC certified.
